Sara Jane Cherry

Sara Jane Cherry teaches flute.
She graduated from Friends University in 2001, and currently teaches private lessons in flute and piano, as well as middle and high school flute choir, in her home music studio. This year marks Sara Jane's tenth year of teaching private lessons. She has also taught private and group lessons at Senseney Music, worked with the students of the Kansas Lions Band, and taught flute at Camp Allegro for four years. Since 2000, she has performed with the Friends University Community Orchestra as the principal flutist; she also currently performs with the Delano Chamber Players, and Friends University Flute Choir. When Sara Jane is not teaching or performing, she enjoys being outdoors with her husband, son and two Italian Greyhounds.
Teaching at Camp Allegro is always an awesome experience. I work with budding musicians, helping them see how music plays a role in their lives. By the end of camp, each student has had a variety of musical experiences: they have learned new music, many have learned a new instrument, some have played in ensembles, and all have performedseveral for the first time. Their progress and enthusiasm is exciting; it is wonderful to see students grow!
